Biography

My name is Niraj (pronounced knee-rudge) Yagnik. I am passionate about programming and dedicated to leveraging artificial intelligence to tackle some of humanity’s most urgent social challenges. My work lies at the intersection of AI and society, focusing on enhancing the accessibility and interpretability of AI systems. This endeavor aims to empower individuals to improve their daily lives through technology and addresses the ethical and regulatory aspects essential for responsible AI development.

At the University of California, San Diego, my work has centered on applying Language Models to enhance healthcare.I’ve developed methods enabling platforms to deliver critical medical information directly to patients, from diagnosis to treatment options. Currently, I am exploring the confluence of AI and social sciences to demystify AI technologies. My work aims to identify challenges in human-centric testing, foster methodological improvements, and boost explanation quality and stakeholder trust.

October 2023: Invited to give Tech Talk at my alma mater (Manipal Institute of Technology) on the applications of genetic algorithms to optimize artificial intelligence to a class of 100. Received an approval rating of 5/5 .
